How to Use

  • Bread Knife: The length and serrated teeth of a bread knife make it possible to cut through a big, crusty loaf without too much pressure
  • Carving Knife: Also called a Slicer, this long knife features a serrated blade, the ideal design for tearing through a turkey and slicing meat as thin as you need
  • Chef Knife: Also known as a cook’s knife, the chef knife is an all-purpose knife that is curved to allow the cook to rock the knife on the cutting board for a more precise slice. Good for basically everything, this may be your favorite new go-to knife
  • Santoku Knife: Think of the Santoku as the Japanese version of the Chef’s Knife, however it’s typically straighter and a bit lighter than a western-style Chef knife. Good for vegetables, fish, boneless chicken, thin-boned meats — just about everything
  • Utility Knife: You can count on your utility knife to be there with you in the trenches.  Mid-sized and mean, this knife is great for a lot of jobs including larger vegetables (think a head of broccoli or carrots), slicing sandwiches and cutting meats
  • Paring Knife: A small knife with a plain edge that’s ideal for delicate cutting. Use this to peel the skin off apples, remove seeds from a pepper or devein a shrimp
  • Steak Knife: This knife is designed to cut through flame-broiled meats
  • Two-Stage Sharpener: Has both a coarse and a fine grade sharpening slot for an easy-to-use, effective at-home sharpening. Grip the sharpener (there’s a finger guard to help you hold it correctly) and drag your knife through each sharpener slot 3—5 times, starting with the coarse and finishing with the fine slot. Wash, and you’ll be on your way

Care Instructions

  • To maintain a sharp edge (the sharper the knife, the safer the knife), you should hone your knives once a week and do a full, at-home sharpening once a month
  • Handwash only
